Frederick Active Mobility Advisory Committee

Frederick Active Mobility Advisory Committee http://www.cityoffrederick.com/index.aspx?NID=695 We are currently at a Bronze level. scooters, skateboards, onewheels, roller skates, etc.)

In 2010, Frederick’s first Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) was formed as an ad hoc committee to work toward becoming a Bicycle Friendly Community. In January 2013, a resolution was passed by the Board of Aldermen to formalize the committee and expand the scope of work to address both cyclists and pedestrians in the City of Frederick. Their mission was to advise the Mayor and Board in all matters

concerning bicycling and walking in Frederick and to make recommendations for future projects within the City. On June 6, 2024, the Board of Alderman adopted ordinance G-24-10, expanding the committee's scope and memorializing it into law as the Active Mobility Advisory Committee (AMAC). The members recognized that mobility by non-motorized means was becoming increasingly varied (I.e. and had not really been accounted for in their work to date. The committee also understood that in addition to planning for safe connected access for all modes of transportation, the impacts of their work can positively contribute to improving disparate health impacts on our underserved populations. This inclusionary approach encourages and supports more users as we implement Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and “Let’s Move, Frederick”, along with meeting our strategic and comprehensive plan goals and implementation.
