Elijah Daubenspeck for Franklin City Council Meeting people where they are with compassion and helping lead them forward with purpose.

Good morning and happy March to you all. The last time I posted on this page was to ask what activities people leave this area to engage in. I have not forgotten those answers and I am trying to see how I can use that information to help this area.

As an extension of that I am letting everyone know in the 3rd Ward of Franklin that am going to be seeking signatures for the democratic committee man representing this ward. If you see me walking and knocking this is what I am doing! This position is on the primary and for democrats only, so unfortunately I won’t be asking republicans or independents to sign.

This position is meant to help the ward connect to the Democratic Party of venango county easier. If elected I would serve as an intermediary for questions or concerns. I will also be active in this community to make sure your voice is heard and you have everything you need to actively engage.

I think this is a great place to be in my community because it will allow me to help my fellow democrats be heard in the 3rd! (Yes, if I had a campaign that would be my slogan).

If you would like me to stop by your home this week let me know, otherwise I will just walk on a beautiful day and knock on some doors 😁

We are full swing into a new year. With the new year comes resolutions and intentions; few of which survive the entire year. However, I want to start off this year with the intention of being present on a daily basis. My first step to being present is posing a question regarding the growth (not just survival) of a town:

When you travel outside of Franklin, what are you traveling for? Are you going out to buy goods, engage in specialized events, eat food, enjoy nature, etc.?

I ask this question because I think it is paramount to the growth and thriving of a city. When we identify what we leave this area for we can then start identifying, and planning, a way to bring those things TO this area so that we attract others and don’t feel like we need to travel.

Here’s a great opportunity to get out and help the community without strings attached. If you’re compelled to sign up or donate I encourage you to take that first step to community action.

Since the election I have thought about what to do with this page. I thought about letting it go dormant until I decide to run again (if I do), and I thought about utilizing it for community engagement at some level.

I ran on issues and topics that are engrained in who I am, so I think I want to continue engaging. It seems disingenuous of me if I were to say I don’t want to be engaged with the community just because I lost a city council election.

I’m not sure how that engagement will look. I will share events and support community members via the page.

I would also love to organize some listening/talking sessions somehow. I would love if people wanted to get together and share their concerns. I may not have political power to change much, but I still want to listen, form bonds with neighbors, and be a voice.

So, do you all think people would be interested in small gatherings over coffee or small block parties in the area? I may just start going door to door with doughnuts and coffee 😁

I was reflecting earlier today about the law of conservation of energy that states: energy can neither be created nor destroyed; only converted from one form to another.

I thought about this in the context of the energy that we receive and give. Remember that when you give negative energy out it doesn’t dissipate, it only affects someone else’s energy. There’s so much negative energy that people give off in this world and I asked myself how can I transform that negative into something more positive. I can’t destroy that negative energy, but I can transform it by not responding to hate with hate or anger with anger.

When we choose to respond to hate or anger with love and empathy we begin transforming negative energy into positive energy, which in turn can spread to others in a positive way.

So when you go about your life engaging in political discourse, or just daily conversation, remember the law of conservation of energy and give off positive vibes.

Hey everyone! If you have signs let me know, I’ll be out to collect them for possible future use if I decide to run again. Thank you!

I woke up today feeling disappointed that I was the ‘odd one out’ for the city council race. However, that is ok. I maintained integrity, presented myself as I am and will always remain an ally to LGBTQIA, vocal about recovery and sobriety, and support my neighbors as we are all in this shared space. I will continue doing what I do without hesitation or misgivings and will look forward to seeing how the elected officials will promote growth, both socially and economically, in our town.

I want to sincerely thank every single person who voted for me and the issues I stand on, it is humbling to see that so many people share my hope and care for this community. If you see me out and about doing what I do feel free to say hi, have a chat, or give me feedback on what you’d like the city to look like! You don’t have to be a government official to promote change! 😁.

Thank you all again, this campaign journey has been a joy to be on with you all!

Today is the day to have your voice be heard. Make sure you get out and cast your vote or turn them in if you haven’t done so yet.
Think of your community’s future, culture, and economic standing as you vote yes for the library county wide tax and you vote yes for me for Franklin City Council.

The stickers turned out fantastic by the way! Go get your cute venango county I voted sticker! ivu

I want to remind everyone out there to exercise not only your civic duty, but your freedom of choice tomorrow. Go to the polls, vote for the issues that matter to you. Don’t vote based on political party; vote for the person because you believe in their mission and you feel like they can help you make your life better.

I hope I have shared enough of myself over the past eight months that you know what I stand for and you see the hope I have for this community. If you value transparency, honesty, humility, compassion, and curiosity over what matters to you then cast your vote for me tomorrow.

Remember, if you are unhappy with how things are and you want things to change then your action of change is to cast your vote.

If you don’t know your local precinct go here:

https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/pollingplaceinfo.aspx

If you have mail-in ballots get them turned in or get yourself to a polling place. CATA is providing free transportation to polling places so make sure people know there are rides available.

You have from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm so there’s no reason you can’t make it out. Show up for yourself and show up for your community!
