In 1864, Roper’s K**b served as a vital Civil War signal station. In 1994, it faced a different kind of battle: the threat of development and disappearing forever.

The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County spearheaded a landmark community effort to ensure this site would be protected forever in partnership with the State of Tennessee. Following its listing on the National Register of Historic Places, the Foundation facilitated its transition to the City of Franklin, securing its future as a permanent part of our local Civil War landscape and a cherished public green space. 💚

Nearly 59 years after our founding, our mission has been defined by this kind of enduring stewardship. We believe in protecting the horizons and heritage that make Williamson County home, ensuring our community’s most significant stories are never forgotten.
