We spent last week connecting, learning and planning and we are so excited for the season of impact ahead!

This is what it looks like to fully engage as a Foster Friendly™ Business. 💙

We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with First Acceptance Insurance and the many ways their team continues to show up for children and families in foster care.

Not only is First Acceptance our Foster Friendly™ App Sponsor for Foster Friendly™ Antioch, helping make it easier for foster and kinship families to find support in their community, but their team is going above and beyond to make a tangible difference.

👕 They engaged even more of their staff through a new-with-tags clothing drive for the I Belong Project™, helping provide children in foster care with the dignity and excitement of choosing brand-new clothing.

⚾ And most recently, a group of First Acceptance volunteers joined us at I Belong Project™ at GEODIS Park, giving their time and energy to help create an experience where children can feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

Did you know some of the most important Foster Friendly work happening across Tennessee starts around a table?

Across the state, local Foster Friendly coalitions bring together faith communities, businesses, nonprofits, civic leaders and other community partners with one shared goal: making their community better for children and families impacted by foster care.

Together, they identify local needs and turn existing resources into action, from recruiting foster families and launching WRAP Teams to engaging businesses, creating trauma-informed spaces and removing barriers for families who have stepped up to care for children.

When communities come together to help families keep saying yes, children have a greater opportunity to experience the safety, stability and connection they deserve.

There’s a role for everyone in becoming Foster Friendly. Want a seat at the table?

Meet Dereon! 💙

Witty, intelligent, joyful and caring, Dereon is the kind of kid who loves telling a good story, especially if it makes you laugh. He loves being active, spending time with friends and playing sports just for fun. Soccer is his favorite! He also genuinely loves school and has big dreams for his future.

Dereon is resilient and determined, with a bright personality and so much hope for what lies ahead. He deserves a family who will encourage those big dreams, cheer him on and give him the love and belonging every child deserves.

In June, our team gathered with an amazing group of volunteers and partners at Collierville First Baptist Church in Memphis for a day filled with laughter, basketball, games, sweet treats, special gifts and, most importantly, opportunities for kids to simply be themselves.

Through the I Belong Project, youth in foster care who are legally free for adoption have the opportunity to share their stories, personalities, interests and hopes for the future through professional photo and video. These stories help prospective adoptive families see beyond a file and get a glimpse of the incredible kid behind it.

Days like this are about so much more than cameras. They happen because an entire community shows up. Faith communities open their doors. Volunteers give their time. Photographers and videographers share their talents. Local businesses donate food, gifts and experiences. People come together to make sure each child walks into a space that feels welcoming, joyful and created especially for them.

A HUGE thank you to Collierville First Baptist Church and every partner, volunteer, photographer, videographer and community member who helped make this Memphis I Belong Project day possible. You helped create a day where kids could have fun, feel celebrated and know that their stories matter. 🧡

Confident, social, and always on the move, Abby is a country girl through and through. She loves meeting new people, staying active, and finding new ways to challenge herself and grow.

You’re more likely to find Abby outside, playing sports, creating art, or browsing her favorite online shops than sitting in front of a TV. She loves being busy, working with her hands, and spending time with people.

Abby is looking for a family who will embrace her outgoing personality, encourage her dreams, and give her the love, support, and belonging every child deserves.
