I don’t do endorsements very often and I do not take them lightly. But there are two people in this election that I hope you consider voting for. They are both running for state rep - a position I have had the honor of holding for the past 9 years. Both of these people are good, decent, kind hearted people who are doing this for the right reasons- simply to serve. No agenda or special interest - just to be your voice on Beacon Hill.
Loring Barnes is a friend and I’ve known her since the day she got elected to the Millis Select Board. She is a force of nature and has endless energy. She is tenacious and willing to think outside of the box - both qualities that will serve her well in the house. She is not an ideologue but a pragmatic centrist who is willing to build coalitions in order to get the job done. Loring is running in Sherborn, Millis (2 precincts), Holliston, and Hopkinton.
Marcus Vaughn is running for the seat I currently hold and I can’t think of a better person to take my place. I’ve known Marcus since we coached our kids in flag football many years ago. He is smart, honest, and trustworthy- qualities so necessary in our elected leaders these days. I’ve watched him handle adversity and his calmness in the face of racism and political gamesmanship was something to behold - and I do not even pretend to think I would have handled the situation with such dignity. These are qualities of character that are rare and cannot be taught - you either have it or you don’t.
Both will serve you, the voter and both deserve your vote. They will help bring much needed balance to Beacon Hill and will keep moving our state forward in a positive direction.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I’m confident if you live in either Loring’s or Marcus’s district - please consider casting your vote for them - you won’t be disappointed.
