Congratulations to all of the winners in the city election! I am excited and grateful to have been re-elected to another term. A huge thank you to my wife Nicole and our kids for their support and understanding of the time this work takes me away from them.
Mayor Charlie Sisitsky makes history as the first Mayor ever to be re-elected. During his first term, we partnered to bring positive reforms to school bus transportation and better serve our residents. Previously, as a co-chair of his education transition committee, we worked together to lay out a vision for his first term and implement so much. Continuity with Charlie is key, and I am looking forward to making new progress together in term two under his ongoing leadership.
I have known Geoff Epstein since 2017. I will fondly look back on many team accomplishments from our four years serving together on the School Committee. Many fiscal, operational, and transparency measures Geoff proposed are still in effect and working well today. Thank you Geoff for adding key topics to the campaign conversation and advocating for increased support for education.
I look forward to working with new City Councilor-Elects Mary Kate Feeney and John Stefanini, and continue working with those re-elected. Thank you to retiring Councilor Adam Steiner (who I have worked with on many education initiatives since we became a city), and outgoing Councilor Leslie White-Harvey for their service.
I am excited to serve with new School Committee members Lorena Tovar, Kyle Shepherd and to be determined from a close District 6 campaign (within two votes last I heard!), and with my reelected colleagues. Thank you to retiring School Committee members Tiffanie Maskell and Valerie Ottaviani, and outgoing member David Gordon. Together they have helped make our team a high functioning group working towards continuous improvement in our school district. I am glad they are still in office with us for the rest of this year. I will have much more to say about their great service to the community at their final meeting in December.
Our Charter reforms passed too. This is a smart leap forward!
l will be suggesting during the transition that all elected and appointed officials set a series of common goals for our city, and aim and work towards them, united together, in the new year.
A new term starts 1.1.26. I am ready!
