Ovarian cancer doesn’t always come with early warning signs—but that doesn’t mean we stop fighting.

Today, on Teal Tuesday, we wear teal unTEAL we find a cure and stand with the women and families affected by this disease.

I had the honor of recognizing Teal Tuesday on the House floor last week, sharing the mission of the KK125 Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, which is working to advance research and raise awareness. Early detection saves lives. Awareness leads to action. Let’s keep pushing for a cure.

Many Texas legislators who voted for both the Andrea Sloan Right to Try bill and the Adult Stem Cell bill ("The Medical Freedom Act") came to show their support of Chairmen Parker and Bettencourt, who were successful in getting the American Legislative Exchange Council to adopt the Medical Freedom Act as model legislation, making it easier for other states to follow Texas's lead in adopting a parallel law. This translates to more and viable healthcare options for no option patients who face a terminal or chronic disease. Thank you to all of you who consistently show up and advocate for patients and put their needs first!

Working in collaboration with Patients For Stem Cells, KK125 Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation was excited to see HB810 by Rep. Tan Parker and Sen. Paul Bettencourt become law. It expands the availability of adult stem cell treatments to the terminally and severely chronically ill. Adult stem cell therapies show remarkable promise for those with multiple sclerosis, orthopedic conditions, autism and many, many other illnesses and conditions --- including cancer. On January 16th, a documentary highlighting the promise of these therapies will be released, and at that time, we will post a link to the video in its entirety.
