Unification isn't just about sharing equipment or aligning protocols—it's about combining our hearts and resources to show up for our community when it matters most.

This week, medics from West Central Allen County Fire District (WCFD) and Northwest Allen County Fire District (NWFD) team up for a very special joint assignment. Our crews are currently en route to provide safe, comfortable transport home for two local campers returning from the 28th Annual Hoosier Burn Camp summer session at Camp Tecumseh.

Hoosier Burn Camp is an incredible 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to giving young people who have suffered severe burn injuries a safe, supportive place where they can overcome trauma, build confidence, and simply "be just one of the kids.™"

Providing transport for these resilient young heroes is a deeply rewarding tradition for the fire service, and our personnel jumped at the opportunity to handle this es**rt together.

Seeing our medics from different stations seamlessly coordinate this trip is a beautiful preview of our unified future. We are stronger together, and we couldn’t be prouder of our crews for going above and beyond to welcome these brave campers home!

Our hearts are heavy today as we extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to our brothers and sisters at Parkview EMS following the tragic loss of one of their dedicated medics.

The bond among first responders stretches far beyond district lines. When one of our communities hurts, we all hurt. To the family, friends, and colleagues processing this devastating loss—please know that you are not walking through this darkness alone. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in grief, and our department is here to support yours in any way needed in the difficult days ahead.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to protecting the freedoms we enjoy will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends, let us remember that this day is more than a long weekend, it is a solemn reminder of the cost of liberty and the extraordinary heroes who gave everything for something greater than themselves.

May we honor their legacy not just in words, but in how we live, serve, and care for one another.

Let's flood the comments with some love! Drop a "thank you" or a shout-out to a local responder you know.

Today is Save-A-Life Day, a day dedicated to empowering the public with the skills needed to step up in an emergency. Today we focused on a different kind of lifesaving education: teaching our local kids how to stay safe!

We had the pleasure of hosting an energetic group of second graders at the station today. They got the grand tour, checking out the inside of the ambulance, seeing the tools on a fire truck, and learning that the big, loud trucks are just tools used by friends who are here to help.

More importantly, we talked about fire safety. We practiced how to "Stop, Drop, and Roll," talked about making a family escape plan, and reminded them to never hide if there's an emergency. Teaching these kids what to do in a crisis doesn't just keep them safe—it gives them the power to protect themselves and their families.

They might be small, but after today, these second graders are officially part of our community's chain of survival!

A huge thank you to our awesome young visitors for asking great questions, and to our crews for passing on these vital lessons.

Today is EMS for Children Day, where we focus on our commitment to providing specialized, compassionate care for the youngest members of our community. But sometimes, keeping our local kids safe and smiling happens after the medical call is wrapped up!

After completing a response call, our crew spotted some young entrepreneurs running a neighborhood lemonade stand. Knowing how hard these kids work (and never being ones to turn down a cold drink on a warm afternoon), the team pulled over to show some support, buy a few cups, and check out the operation.

Whether we are responding to an emergency or just stopping by for a chat and a cup of lemonade, building trust with our local kids is one of the most rewarding parts of this job. We want every child in our community to know that when they see the flashing lights and the uniform, they are looking at a friend who is always there to help.

A huge shout-out to our crew for being great role models, and to our awesome young neighbors for keeping the team hydrated today!

What an Incredible Night!

We just wrapped up our EMS Week Family Picnic, and our hearts (and stomachs) are completely full!

While EMS Week is filled with community appreciation, tonight was all about family. It was so good to step away from the trucks and just enjoy some downtime together.

A massive thank you to our paramedics and EMTs for the lifesaving work they do every single shift. But the biggest shout-out tonight goes to our families—the spouses, kids, and loved ones who support us through the late nights, missed dinners, and long hours. You are the true backbone of this department, and tonight was for you!

From the kids playing to the crew catching up around the picnic tables, tonight was a perfect reminder that we aren't just a department—we're a family.

Thank you to everyone who came out, brought a favorite dish, or helped flip a burger to make tonight so special!
