The battlefield is changing. Soldiers of 1st Cavalry Division tested emerging unmanned and autonomous systems during training at Fort Hood, Texas. From first-person-view drones and unmanned aircraft systems to autonomous ground vehicles, the training provides Soldiers hands-on experience integrating new technology into reconnaissance, precision targeting, indirect-fire and battlefield-shaping operations.

Testing capabilities at the tactical level helps Soldiers identify what works, refine how it is employed and build formations prepared to fight and win in an increasingly complex operating environment.

Remembering Jean Shine — A True Fort Hood Good Neighbor

Today, we mourn the loss of Jean Shine, a remarkable Central Texas leader whose life reflected service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to Fort Hood Soldiers, military families, veterans, and the community.

Named a Fort Hood Good Neighbor in 2001, Jean became a trusted bridge between The Great Place and Central Texas. As a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, she was a steadfast advocate for Soldiers and their families.

Her service extended beyond Fort Hood. Through Wreaths for Vets and the Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Jean helped build an enduring tradition of honoring our fallen and bringing the community together in remembrance.

Jean embodied the very best of the Army and epitomized the spirit of why Fort Hood is the Great Place.

Our deepest condolences are with the Shine family and all who knew her.

Rest well, Jean. Your legacy lives on.

III Armored Corps Command Sgt. Maj. James L. Light visited Fort Sill, Oklahoma, engaging with Soldiers and leaders from the 75th Field Artillery Brigade and 100th Brigade Support Battalion while getting a firsthand look at maintenance operations across the formation.

From the motor pool to manufacturing replacement vehicle parts in-house, Soldiers demonstrated how technical expertise and innovation can help reduce supply-chain delays and keep combat platforms ready when they're needed.

Soldiers with the 977th Military Police Company, 1st Infantry Division, put rounds downrange at Fort Riley, Kansas, sharpening their skills on some serious firepower.

From the M240 machine gun to the M2 .50 caliber machine gun and Mark 19 40mm gr***de launcher, Soldiers confirmed weapon accuracy, reinforced marksmanship fundamentals and demonstrated proficiency on their assigned weapon systems.

75th Field Artillery Brigade capped off its 105th anniversary celebration with a combatives tournament at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Aug. 7.

Soldiers from across the brigade stepped onto the mat, putting their strength, skill and warrior spirit to the test in a final round of competition to close out Diamond Week.

More than a celebration of 105 years of service, Diamond Week brought Soldiers together through competition designed to strengthen teamwork, build morale and reinforce the esprit de corps that has defined the Diamond Brigade for generations.

Soldiers from 2-37AR, 1ABCT, 1st Armored Division, brought the heavy firepower during M1A2 Abrams gunnery near Boleslawiec, Poland.

From fighting positions with only the turret exposed to crews maneuvering, identifying targets and sending rounds downrange, tanking is a team sport.
