May is Military S***e Appreciation month and we are showcasing a few of our wonderful National Guard Spouses.
SSG Charlie Berget is the RNCO of the A Co 372nd Det 1 out of Libby, and would like to thank his wife Adrianna with the following words. "To my incredible wife, Adrianna Berget:
Serving in the Montana Army National Guard is a profound privilege, but it is a commitment we ultimately shoulder together. From the long drill weekends to all the time apart, you hold everything together with incredible grace and strength. Thank you for your endless patience, your many sacrifices, and for holding down the home front.

Under penalty of UCMJ, I remain yours,
SSG Charles Berget"

Thank you for all that you do from the Homefront in supporting your Guardsmen in all their endeavors.

If you would like to showcase your spouse please send a photo and email to [email protected].

A credit score is built from five core components: payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit, and credit mix. These factors don’t carry equal weight—some matter far more than others.

📊 The 5 Components of a Credit Score (FICO Model)
1. Payment History — 35%
This is the single most important part of your score. Lenders want to know whether you pay your bills on time. Late payments, collections, and defaults hurt this category.

A long record of on‑time payments strengthens it.

2. Amounts Owed (Credit Utilization) — 30%
This looks at how much of your available credit you’re using. Using more than 30% of your credit limits can lower your score. Lower utilization signals responsible credit management.

3. Length of Credit History — 15%
Lenders prefer to see a long track record of managing credit.
This includes:

Age of your oldest account

Age of your newest account

Average age of all accounts

4. New Credit — 10%
Opening several accounts in a short time can signal financial stress.
Hard inquiries from applications temporarily lower your score. Too many new accounts at once can be a red flag.

5. Credit Mix — 10%
This reflects the variety of credit types you use, such as:

Credit cards

Auto loans

Mortgages

Installment loans

A healthy mix shows you can manage different kinds of credit responsibly.

May is the Month of the Military Spouse and throughout the Month of May we have asked Soldiers to tell us why they appreciate their spouse and value their sacrifices during their career.
Our First is from SGT Todd Murphy in A Co 372nd DSSB in Havre:
"Nicole is always there to greet me when I get home and supports me through any dumb ideas I have. She's a loving wife and amazing cook and the backbone of our household. Thank you for your support always."

It’s ! 🕵️‍♂️ Let's talk about Credentialing Assistance (CA) and keeping your professional skills sharp.

Ever heard that using CA for your recertifications will eat up your lifetime limits?
❌ MYTH: Recertifications count toward your lifetime cap.
✅ FACT: They do NOT count toward the lifetime limit of 3 credentials per 10 years of service.
💡 IMPORTANT REMINDER: Recertification funding does subtract from your $2,000 per Fiscal Year (FY) maximum.

Plan your training budget smart this year so you can maximize your benefits!

🗣️ Share this post or tag a battle buddy who needs to recertify soon! 🇺🇸
