Recent living history from Fort Garland Memorial Regiment. Along with US soldiers, the fort was home to women and children, who had to adapt to the challenges and isolation of the remote frontier.

Fort Garland Memorial Regiment is a living history group dedicated to honoring the legacy of the men, women, and children who lived at historic Fort Garland, Colorado and surrounding communities. One of the most culturally diverse communities in the American West of the 19th century, the fort was a gathering place for African American Buffalo Soldiers; white soldiers, officers, and their families; Ute and other American Indian tribes; and Hispanic and other diverse soldiers and settlers.
