Dearest Gentle Anon Readers,
It would appear that while names may change, some reputations are considerably harder to restyle.
Longtime readers may remember a certain downtown hairstylist who once answered to the initials AG, operating a salon whose name took inspiration from that most delicate of creatures—the butterfly. A charming little symbol of transformation, really. Though judging by some of the haircuts that allegedly emerged from those doors, transformation may have been a touch too accurate.
But the whispers surrounding the salon were not limited to uneven layers and questionable color choices. There was also, according to the gossip of the day, a rather enthusiastic amount of flirting and other activities —enough that one occasionally wondered whether the appointment included shampoo, cut, and complimentary attention to someone else’s husband.
Eventually, the butterfly folded her wings and disappeared from the salon scene.
One might have assumed that was the end of our little beauty tale.
Oh, how terribly optimistic.
Our former AG has since remarried, acquired herself a shiny new surname, and emerged as AB.
And apparently, dear readers, she has also returned to the salon game.
New husband.
New initials.
New chapter.
Same reviews.
Because while marriage certificates can change surnames, they apparently cannot perform miracles with a pair of shears.
So if you happen to find yourself settling into her chair, perhaps be very specific about what you would like done—and keep a careful inventory of everything you arrived with.
Your length. Your layers. Your dignity. And, perhaps, your man.
After all, a butterfly may undergo a marvelous transformation…
But sometimes it merely changes its wings.
Guard your hair and your men.
With freshly sharpened shears and even sharper gossip,
Lady Benningdown 💋
