The first and last time we had a Republican President “of and for the people” and not “of and for the very rich and corporate interest.”
“Roosevelt tried to distinguish between "good" and "bad" corporations and sought to help the former by stamping out the latter, which he defined as monopolistic trusts in restraint of fair and open competition. This so-called "trust-busting" approach was a popular tactic with voters during the early twentieth century, as economic concentration peaked in the United States and some 4,000 smaller businesses were swallowed up by larger conglomerates seeking to attain monopolistic power in the marketplace.” (Eric Foner, Give Me Liberty! An American History, New York: W. W. Norton, 2006, 516). “Déjà vu all over again”
When Republicans were Democrats and Democrats were Republicans.
Trump is anti-progressive – regressive, he is of and for the rich, especially if he reaps the largest gain at the expense of others.
We need a resurgence of a progressive Republican party.
