🚨 CALL TO ACTION 🚨 Moms for Liberty is coming to NYC and we need to let them know that there is no place for hate in our city! On January 18, 2024, Bohemian National Hall is set to host a "Town Hall" organized by the extremist group Moms for Liberty. A cultural institution that receives city funding should not host a group that works to stifle free expression and democracy by banning books and open discussion of issues they don’t like.

Moms for Liberty is a hate organization that advocates against school curricula and books that mention LGBTQIA+ rights and issues around race. Members and leaders of Moms for Liberty have been accused of harassing and threatening teachers, school librarians, school board members, and opposing activists. The group has ties to the Proud Boys and other violent militias. Moms for Liberty does not care about parental choice and actively lies to the public about its goals. The group only exists to push a hateful, anti-LGBTQ and racist agenda that endangers families across New York and the United States.

Join us in demanding Bohemian National Hall cancel the event and refuse to host Moms for Liberty in the future. We call on all venues in NYC to refuse hosting hate groups in their space. Make your calls, send your emails, boost this post and share! Find sample script and more at tinyurl.com/moms4hate or via LINK IN BIO 🔗

Hello friends – it's been a minute! We're excited to invite you to join us this coming Monday, December 4th at 8pm for a panel of some of the most prominent citywide parent leaders and advocates as we discuss the history of mayoral control in NYC public schools and its implications, and how we can envision a future without it.

The city will be hosting feedback sessions in each borough, including the Queens Town Hall on 12/18, so come to our panel first to learn.

We are closing in on the end of voting! You have until Tuesday to get your vote in. If you haven't been paying attention, right wing extremists are trying to use the low voter turnout to their advantage to stack our CECs. Listen to yesterday's segment on the Brian Lehrer Show that talks about the dangers of organizations like PLACE that have used the same tactics as parents in Tennessee and Florida to try to intimidate schools into banning books and enact and preserve policies that create racial disparities. https://www.wnyc.org/story/parents-rights-movement-city-education-council-elections

Then, go to www.schoolsaccount.nyc to vote for

Adriana Alicea
Ted Chang
Simone Dornbach
Sophian DeFrance

These elections are consequential and it only takes a minute to vote.

Today is the day! We are having our CEC Candidate Forum tonight at 8! Register at bit.ly/CECForumD28A4E Come hear from some of the candidates that are running for CEC District 28 including our endorsed candidates

Adriana Alicea
Ted Chang
Sophian DeFrance
Simone Dornbach

And of course our final candidate spotlight is today! Today, we're showing love for Ted Chang. Ted is a dedicated Councilmember. Each CEC member is assigned schools to liaise with and Ted goes above and beyond. Ted regularly meets with 8 schools' PAs and SLTs on top of the two his own children attend. He is also a member of the MELS SLT where one of his children attends.

As a CEC member, Ted has been very active in building the infrastructure of CEC and getting the CEC's voice heard. He was on the bylaws committee to write the bylaws for CEC 28 and sponsors many resolutions to make sure the DOE and elected officials know what our parents care about. And we would be remiss if we didn't mention that Ted chairs the Educational Equity Committee on the CEC bringing important topics to the fore.

Meet Ted, Adriana, Sophian, and Simone tonight along with other candidates running at our event tonight at 8.

And of course, don't forget to vote by May 9 at www.schoolsaccount.nyc!

Please fill out the form below if you would like to attend D28 A4E's CEC Candidate Forum. We will send out Zoom information the day of the event. If you would like more information about who we are or to get onto our mailing list, go to https://tinyurl.com/Action4Equity
