Huge congratulations to Viking Evania Regas on receiving the Golden Apple Scholarship! 🌟🍎

Evania is headed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign this fall to study Secondary Special Education, and I could not be more proud to see another future special educator and fellow Illini beginning this journey. ❤️

The future is bright, and I know she’s going to make a tremendous impact in the lives of students.

🌟🍎Our Vikings are wrapping up the school year with win after win: We're super excited to share that one of our soon-to-be grads, Evania Regas, was awarded the Golden Apple Scholarship! The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program is a teacher preparation and tuition assistance program that provides high school seniors, college freshmen, and sophomores with up to $23,000 in financial assistance, paid summer institutes, extensive classroom experience, and job placement assistance in exchange for a five-year teaching commitment.

📚Acceptance of the scholarship ensures the student plans to teach on a full-time basis for at least five years at an Illinois public, private, or parochial school considered a "School of Need" (or in a low-income area). Evania is headed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Fall to study Secondary Special Education!

❤️🤍We can't wait to see the impact she'll have in the classroom in the years to come! Golden Apple

WHY IS MUSICAL THEATRE MEANINGFUL TO YOU?
"I have grown up with theatre so close to me, and I constantly see the way it brings people together. Musical theatre affects people so deeply, and it is surreal getting to watch new connections form every night on and off stage."

WHO IS YOUR BROADWAY IDOL?
"Eva Noblezada! She is such a powerhouse, I never get tired of hearing her sing."

WHAT IS THE FIRST ROLE YOU EVER PLAYED / SHOW YOU WERE IN?
"I was in "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at my local theater. I was so excited to finally be onstage, and I couldn't believe the amount of lines I had to memorize!"

⭐MARCUS MCGHEE⭐

nominated for the role of Sebastian in Homewood-Flossmoor High School's production of "Disney's The Little Mermaid"!

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM ROLE?
"My dream role is the Tin Man in "The Wiz". There’s something so powerful about a character who starts off believing he’s incapable of feeling, only to realize that he’s had a heart all along. I’m drawn to that journey…the vulnerability, the humor, and the quiet longing underneath it all. The Tin Man isn’t just comic relief; he represents what it means to rediscover your ability to care, and that’s something we need in the world."

WHAT FIRST SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN MUSICAL THEATRE?
"My interest in theatre started from a very young age, seeing "The Lion King" at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. From there, my passion for music carried through elementary in middle school. But when I’d finally gained the courage to audition for a show in 7th grade, all I could think back to was how I felt being in the audience of that large theatre and the sense of joy and excitement that overwhelmed me, and I knew that musical theatre was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life."
