Fox 2 News reported a story this evening about several disturbing incidents occuring involving students on a Collinsville school bus...that were videotaped using profanity, racial slurs, and insighting a fight between two boys.
Although the images were difficult to see...it appeared that one of the boys was clearly being attacked by the other student.
The parent of the boy being victimized was outraged that at the actions of the bus driver; alleging that she did not do enough to discourage the inappropriate behavior of students. Now the school is reviewing the tapes to take action against the driver. FYI....First, bus driver's are paid to transport children to their destinations.....safely. Second, drivers cannot stop and pull their buses over for every incident or the parents would then complain about how long it took for their kids to make it home. Third, drivers also have to be leary about their actions when it comes to addressing children due to the retaliation they face from Volatile parents and school administrators. My suggestion would be that schools recuit parents to serve as bus monitors to deter the fighting and inappropriate behavior so that the bus drivers could effectively do their jobs. Two monitors 1 male and 1 female would be assigned to each bus....boys sitting on the right side and girls on the left....after two infractions students are placed on detention with notification to their parents regarding their violation.
