Soccer Stadium Alert! Make Your Voice Heard

On February 18th, the Firestone Town Board will be discussing an agenda item related to the United Soccer League — but did not provide any further details on what will be discussed.

Residents will have an opportunity for public comment before this agenda item, giving you a chance to share your thoughts and make your position known directly to the Board.

Attend the board meeting tomorrow, Feb 18th at 6:00 PM!

9900 Park Ave in Firestone

Community decisions are strongest when the community participates. Please attend, speak if you feel called to, and encourage your neighbors to do the same.

Let’s make sure Firestone’s future reflects the voices of its residents.

Firestone residents — what is happening with our Town Board and our water is unacceptable.

After wasting an enormous amount of your money on a lawsuit they were clearly losing, the Board finally dropped its case against Central Weld County Water District. But instead of learning from that failure, they doubled down — filing a new lawsuit to try to block the cancellation of the water treatment agreement.

Think about that: rather than negotiating in good faith to secure reliable drinking water for our community, the Board chose more litigation, more conflict, and more legal bills — all paid by Firestone taxpayers.

As if that weren’t enough, the Town is now trying to seize land from the St. Vrain Sanitation District, which provides our sewer and wastewater treatment. This reckless move is unlikely to succeed, does nothing to fix our drinking water problem, and guarantees even more wasteful spending on lawyers.

No matter who “wins,” residents lose. We are effectively paying legal fees on both sides while our water future remains uncertain.

This is not leadership — it is mismanagement.

Firestone deserves a Board that works with our regional partners, protects our water supply, and puts residents first instead of fighting everyone around us.

That’s why recalling the current Board isn’t just justified — it’s necessary. We need new leadership that will stop the lawsuits, start collaborating, and finally solve our water problems.

It’s time for change in Firestone.

Firestone residents, we have great news!

After petitions were submitted, legal protests were filed, and a judge reviewed the matter, two recall petitions are officially moving forward:

✅ Trustee Morton
✅ Trustee Byrd

This is a major step forward and a direct result of residents standing up and making their voices heard.

After careful consideration, the recall committee has decided not to pursue additional recall attempts for Trustees Jimenez and Doherty, choosing to be mindful of time, cost, and taxpayer resources.

🚨 Now it’s time to look ahead.
If you believe in transparent leadership and a future that truly works for Firestone, consider stepping up and running for Trustee.

Change starts with you — stay involved and stay tuned.

Water rates are going up in Firestone.
At Wednesday’s board meeting, the Trustees voted to increase water rates by 8.2%, effective January 1.

Of that increase, 3.2% is a pass-through cost from Central Weld County Water. The remaining 5% is an increase set by the Town of Firestone.

The recall petitions have been submitted to the Town Clerk, and we collected more than enough signatures, well above the ~535 required.

The Clerk now has 5 business days to review and let us know if anything needs fixing. If so, state law provides time to cure any deficiencies.

Thank you to everyone who signed and supported this effort — more updates soon.

At last night’s board meeting, Trustee Jimenez said, “When you hear that residents aren’t happy, I think that isn’t true,” citing a survey from earlier this year — before the water issue, before the DDA, and before the stadium plans.

What do you think — are Firestone residents truly happy with how things are going, or does it feel like the board is out of touch with the community right now?
