Our club was recently visited by Family and Friends Camping Club a national group who travel together each year. This year they chose Twin Falls and after feeding us lunch we gave them the royal tour of our layouts. We enjoyed their visit. Interestingly on the day of their departure one of their members (there were about 60), a gentleman from Wisconsin wandered in to our bldg and showed some interest with the ho layout. Our member, Kerley, was having trouble figuring out the wiring on the layout. This good man observed Kerley's frustrations and very casually remarked, "why don't you reverse those two wires". When this was done the layout ran like a charm. Thank you mystery man from Wisconsin.

In June this year we have two events scheduled: On the 4th we will be visited by about 65 cub scouts who will receive the grand tour. This year we have our new building and all scales (n, ho, o and g) will have multiple trains running.

On the 15th is Filer Fun Days. Our club will have an entry in the parade at 11 am and the building will be open from noon to 5pm with all scales operating. With much of our emphasis on the outdoor large scale layout, not all gauges will be at the same level of completion and we apologize in advance for that but promise everyone a fun experience.

We are a well run, happy and courteous group and we now have an opening for new members to join .Dues are only $10 per month and you can bring your trains from home and run them on our brand new layouts

It is with deep sorrow and respect that we reluctantly announce the passing of one of our members. Steve Hagerty was a long-time member and served in many ways. He was secretary and accountant, in charge of "n" scale and resource for all things financial.

Steve worked hard to overcome his medical handicaps and was a friend and mentor to alll.a

Goodbye for a while Steve, we will miss you.

As time flies by the inevitability of the 2019 Twin Falls County Fair bears hard on us as we work to have as much accomplished prior to End August/Early September.

N scale, the smallest scale looks like they will have the majority of their layout completed for Fair time. It will be the most complete

HO scale, the most oft employed scale in the United States has an innovative layout with four interconnected "islands". We're rather proud of this new layout form and it is coming along nicely.

O scale or standard scale is the size we old folks got for Christmas when we were kids. It has three rails though it is disguised and looks like only two. The layout for this scale is coming along nicely and will be operative for the fair.

G scale, or garden scale, is the largest size and its home will be permanently outside. We have erected a beautiful metal overhang to protect it from the weather and a fence around it to protect it from vandals. The fence will be removed during the fair. It will be running both battery and electrical track steam locos and some 1950 era diesels.

All in all we are very optimistic about what fairgoers will enjoy at the Magic Valley Model Railroaders brand new building. New building, new layouts, new presentation!

Don't miss it!πŸš‰πŸšŽπŸ’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

With just a few weeks left before the Fair, the club is making good progress in the goal of having trains running in all four scales: G (largest), O (standard or Lionel size) HO (half of O and now the most used) and N (our smallest ). We will probably have little scenery done except for N scale, (That is really a two year project), but visitors will be able to see "work in progress". Stay tuned as the date gets closer!
