Jefferson Co. PWSD #12

Jefferson Co. PWSD #12 We are a small rural water district serving citizens in Southeastern Jefferson County, Missouri

04/14/2026

We will begin hydrant flushing 4/15/2026 in Oakland Woods and Boyce Lane, including Huntington Trails. Flushing will continue throughout the week. We will update the areas affected as we move along.

We flush water lines using fire hydrants, which is an important preventive maintenance activity. Although it may appear to waste water, the process is part of a routine maintenance program necessary to maintain the integrity of the water system and ensures the hydrants are in proper working order. Hydrants that are found inoperable are tagged and scheduled for repair. As a result of the line flushing process, residents in the immediate vicinity of the work may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This discoloration consists primarily of harmless silt/minerals and air, and does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your area, flush the pipes in your home by running COLD water from your bathtub faucet vigorously for a few minutes.

We are proud to announce that Darrick Brumley, one of our field operators recently completed the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) Apprenticeship Program and is now a Journeyman Water Operator. The attached photo shows him receiving his Certificate of Completion from a representative with the U.S. Department of Labor at the recent Missouri Rural Water Association (MRWA) Annual Conference. The skills he learned during the two-year program are put to use daily and enable our entire crew to work more efficiently. CONGRATULATIONS DARRICK!

**UPDATE** AS OF FEB 13TH: THE WATER SAMPLE HAS BEEN DEEMED SAFE AND THE PRECAUTIONARY BOIL ORDER IS LIFTED. Thank you for your patience this week!

***UPDATE*** As of Feb. 12th: The lab with the water sample from the Feb. 9th water main leak is closed for an extended period of time. PWSD #12 has drawn a second sample to have tested at a different lab. The new results are expected no later than the afternoon of Feb. 13th. Please continue to boil water until there is a new update with the sample results. We apologize for any inconvenience.

** UPDATE** the water line has been repaired and the water will be coming back on. We are issuing a precautionary boil order for those customers who were affected. The water is safe for bathing, but we do advise a precautionary boil order until we get a safe sample back from the laboratory. Guidelines for a boil order are as follows:

What to Do During a Boil Order

Boil Water: Bring water to a vigorous, rolling boil for at least 3 minutes.

Drinking & Food: Use bottled or boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits/vegetables, making ice, and pet water.

Hygiene: Adults can shower, but avoid swallowing water. Infants/children should have sponge baths.

Cleaning: Hand-wash dishes using hot, soapy water and add 1 tablespoon of bleach per gallon as a disinfectant, or use a dishwasher on high heat.

An update on the water sample will be posted when it becomes available.

Repairs are taking longer than anticipated. Our crew is still on the job and working through the problems at hand to get our customers back in water. Thank you for understanding.

We have received reports of low water pressure and loss of water. After an immediate investigation, we do have a main leak at the intersection of Hwy TT and Danby Rd. We will be updating as more information is provided by our crew. Thank you in advance for your patience.
