To the world, it’s just a Christmas tree.
Lights. Colors. Decorations.
But in his world… it’s wonder.
It’s safety.
It’s magic.
Autism changes how the world is felt — not just how it’s seen.
The lights glow louder.
The colors feel deeper.
Small moments carry big meaning.
What looks “simple” to us can feel overwhelming.
What looks “ordinary” can feel extraordinary.
And what looks “different” is often where the beauty lives.
For autism moms, the holidays aren’t about perfection.
They’re about regulation over tradition.
Connection over expectations.
Peace over performance.
It’s choosing softer lights.
Quieter rooms.
Familiar routines.
And letting joy look different than the pictures on the postcards.
This isn’t about fixing anything.
There’s nothing broken here.
It’s about slowing down long enough to see the world through his eyes —
and realizing that the magic was always there…
we just had to learn how to look.
If this feels familiar, you’re not alone. 💙
