Fayette County Government celebrated the completion of the SR 85 at Whitewater Creek Bridge Replacement today. Many thanks to GDOT for the partnership and for completely funding this project.
The original bridge, built in 1950, has now been replaced with a modern structure designed to enhance safety, durability, and hydraulic capacity.
This project represents a programmed funding investment of $4.72 million and includes a total project length of 1,800 feet, with the new bridge spanning 210 feet. The enhanced hydraulic capacity improves the bridge’s ability to accommodate water flow, supporting long-term resilience.
Key project features include two 12‑foot travel lanes with 8‑foot shoulders, providing improved mobility and safety for motorists.
Decorative stamped concrete has also been incorporated as an architectural treatment to enhance the structure’s visual appeal.
