Lots of great information here on the plans for the new Woodland and Ramay Jr. High Schools, the conversion of John L Colbert Middle School to a junior high school in 2027, and a new magnet high school on the current Ramay campus. https://district.fayar.net/page/focus-on-the-future

I have held off on making a public post regarding the proposed FHS parking deck. There are still a number of conversations taking place between the school district and city staff to reach an agreeable compromise to both provide much needed additional parking for FHS students and to be responsible stewards of our environment. In the world of community governance, there is always need for more collaboration and compromise in order to eventually arrive at the best possible solution for everyone. We are convinced that we will get there!

I have heard and seen some comments and emails that are accusing city council members of intentionally delaying their decision on this issue. You all should know that we, the school district, have asked for that delay so that we can come forward with our very best proposal for how to best meet the need for parking while demonstrating our commitment to our community’s priorities, and to the example we set as good stewards of our environment.

Please hold off on making any assumptions about process etc. We are all in this together, and I can tell you that from where I sit, I couldn’t be prouder of this city and the way we all work together for good!

I’m happy to visit with anyone on the phone or in person, but you’ll also learn a whole lot about what is going on at the school district if you tune in to our meeting tonight on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/. See you there!
