I’m excited to officially announce that I have filed to run in the 2024 election for Justice of the Peace in Washington County District 1!

As a lifelong resident of Washington County and a working class everyday person, it would be my honor to have your support as I strive to give a voice to those of us in the area who know all too well how hard inflation has been hitting our cost of living.
Whether that support looks like volunteering to call your neighbors, knocking doors, a donation, hosting an event, or your vote on Election Day, I am grateful for the opportunity to once again offer District 1 a choice on their ballot this coming year. See you at the polls! 🗳️❤️🤍💙🗳️

WASHINGTON COUNTY - Tonight is the quorum court meeting where the current court is expected to officially declare the vacancy left by Lance Johnson’s resignation earlier this month. Due to our state statutes, this will then go to the Governor’s office to make the decision on who to appoint. It is anticipated that once the vacancy is declared, the Governor will work to fill the position quickly.

As the only other person who stepped up to run for District 1 during the 2022 election cycle, I have submitted the online form to Gov. Sander’s administration for review to be considered as an appointee, but to really make an impact, I need your help. Please consider contacting the Governor’s office TODAY to make your voice heard.

If you are struggling with what to say, a dear friend of mine has written and offered the following script for ease of access:

“The people of Washington County, AR deserve a special election if a sitting member of any elected position resigns or otherwise is unable to fulfill the role. There is a precedent in Washington County, AR in which a runner-up for a Justice of the Peace race was selected to fill the position until the end of term for a sitting member of the Quorum Court who was unable to do so. The Governor of AR should see these two options as the only options for filling a seat to an elected position and to uphold democracy. Appointing any individual to an elected position is the antithesis of democracy.”

Please feel free to use this, or to write your own. Together we can make an impact, we are strong when we work as a team ❤️🤍💙

🙌🙌🙌 We are stronger together. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Regardless of the side of the aisle you find yourself on, I hope we can all agree that having integrity and working together for a better tomorrow is a non-partisan affair ❤️🤍💙

For anyone who has not been a candidate or helped run a campaign, it is exhausting work. But you do it because you believe it will make things better. Every candidate has their own “why” that drove them to put their name in the hat and devote hours upon hours of their lives showing up, knocking doors, shaking hands. Reasons they think they would be better than their opponent, qualities they think makes them the best fit for the job.

For me, I ran because I wanted the people to have a voice. I ran because I believed, and still do believe, that everyday people who understand what it is like to be a person at the backbone of our economy should have a say in how we run our cities, counties, states, and country. I ran because I wanted District 1 to have a say, and not be stuck voting for “all unopposed candidates” regardless of whether you agreed they were fit or not. And I was that name on the ballot. Some of you voted for me, and some of you voted for my opponent. Either way, I thank you for caring enough to show up to the polls and make your voices heard. Even though it wasn’t me that you chose, I was proud that you got to make a choice.

Well, District 1, today our elected Justice of the Peace was sworn into office. The person you chose for this position, Lance Johnson, took his oath as our JP. And then shortly after, resigned. Under our current state statutes, this means that our newly elected governor will be tasked with appointing our next Justice of the Peace. The same newly elected governor who lost the popular vote in our county now gets to decide who she thinks will best represent us. There will be no special election, no votes, no voice from us whatsoever. Every bit of choice we had in our Justice of the Peace is stripped away from us for the next 2 full years. Why have we given this power to the state? How could any state-wide official know our neck of the woods well enough to choose someone who will be the voice on the quorum court we deserve?

I think we need a ballot initiative that would allow us to have some say in filling of local vacancies, who’s with me?

Springdale! Let’s turn out to support one of our own. We need elected officials who understand what our experience as everyday people is in this town, and I believe Alice will be the voice we so desperately need. Please make time to get out and vote, the turnout for runoff elections is *not great* which means every single vote counts!

Make a plan to vote, either early (today or Monday) or on Election Day on Tuesday from 7-7. Bring your friends and family to the polls!

Today is the 4th day of early voting in Springdale! Take a moment to vote in the City Council race because a vote for me is definitely a vote for your family and mine.

I was proud to vote for Alice for Springdale City Council on November 8th and I will be just as proud to vote for her in her runoff on December 6th! Springdale deserves leadership who knows what the community faces and I have no doubt that Alice is the best choice for this job. I fully endorse her and I hope to see you at the polls!
