A daily scattering of showers and thunderstorms is expected through the week. A few of the storms will be capable of being strong.

THREATS:
*Frequent lightning
*Gusty winds
*Heavy rain

TODAY:
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected today and throughout the night. Highs are expected in the lower 80's with overnight lows in the upper 60's.

FLOOD WATCH:
A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of Central Alabama through 10pm Tuesday, May 26th.

Friday Severe Weather Update:

"There is a Risk Level of out of 5 for severe weather today for portions of Central Alabama."

UPDATE:
Scattered thunderstorms will move through the area for much of the day, with brief isolated tornadoes and damaging winds up to 60 mph as the main threats.
Heavy rainfall will occur in each storm. While there is not a widespread threat for flooding, localized areas that area poor drainage or urban, could see flooding wth any stronger storms that move over the same areas.
With the recent rains, it likely won't take much wind to knock trees down.

Rain chances will remain each day into next week. Overall, 4-5" accumulations are possible in the northwest and 1.5-2.5" in the southeast. However, locally higher amounts are possible in any stronger storms that move over the same areas.

Across Central Alabama, heat index values will be the lower 90s today, with a few locations in the upper 80s. Warm conditions will continue for most through the weekend. A boundary will move in from the northwest & stall, with a medium to high chance for rain remaining through the beginning of next week.

This week across Central Alabama, high temperatures will range from the middle 80s to the lower 90s. Minor heat impacts will primarily affect those who are extremely sensitive to heat & without cooling & hydration. Stay hydrated, & never leave a child or pet unattended in a vehicle. Rainfall values will increase for mid week through the end of the week. Any shower & stray thunderstorm could produce gusty winds, heavy rain, & frequent lightning.
