Breaking News: Rich Schaffer has abandoned his entire Democratic Slate in Suffolk County again. It is an open secret.

Rich cannot fill all the candidate slots. Once he does most of these candidates get no contact or institutional help from Rich. Many candidates run isolated campaigns with no help from the county party. Many candidates do not even get invited to certain events.

All candidate union screenings are usually predetermined in terms of results and endorsements making patsy candidates pour their heart out as the
screeners smirk and smile knowing the outcome.

Each candidate must figure it out on their own: raise funds, mailers, design flyers and palm cards, design ads, how to create walkbooks, strategize on issues. The County Chairman does no training not even a check in call.

The entire County slate is neglected with a few candidates getting six figure support and the rest is left to navigate in the dark with literally a few hundred dollars.

If a candidate does become successful or have a chance of winning, Rich Schaffer will send county cronies to disrupt the campaign, spread rumors and gossip or simply tell the candidate to drop out or else.

Democratic socialists believe that working people should democratically run both the economy and society to meet human needs rather than generate private profits. While the ultimate philosophical aim of groups like the DSA is to move beyond capitalism, active platforms prioritize immediate, radical reforms:

Universal Healthcare: Implementing single-payer, federally funded Medicare for All.

Economic Democracy: Expanding public or collective ownership over key economic drivers such as energy production, utilities, and transportation.

Expanded Social Safety Nets: Providing free public education from pre-K through college, cancelling student debt, and enacting universal rent control.

Taxing Wealth: Levying aggressive taxes on corporations and the wealthiest individuals to fund infrastructure and public goods

There is no call to end private property or private business. It however must be regulated and taxed
