I got an email from a voter asking: "What do you bring to the table?"
It’s an important question, so I wanted to share my answer.
WHAT I BRING: Proven executive experience, an unmatched municipal track record, and a ready-on-day-one understanding of local government.
Here's what that means for the future of Davis County:
1. 12 Years of Hands-On Budget Management
Davis County has real, urgent work to do when it comes to managing our tax dollars. Government budgeting is different from private business; it involves complex, distinct funding structures, strict auditing mandates, and a different kind of leadership accountability.
For the last four years as Mayor of Bountiful, and eight years on the City Council before that, I have overseen the budget of the County’s second-largest city. Every single year, we spent months line-by-line scrutinizing expenditures to deliver a balanced budget.
Because of this intentional discipline, Bountiful is known for its deep fiscal conservatism and maintains one of the lowest tax rates in the county. That is not an accident—it is the result of deliberate leadership.
2. Deep Understanding of Local Issues
My 12 years in city leadership mean I have already tackled the exact regional issues now facing our county commission. I have been studying and learning about these cricital issues for a decade. For example:
Public Safety & Police Retention: In Bountiful, we navigated the regional "salary wars" to keep our best officers local, while modernizing our force with critical funding for body cameras, bullet proof vests and other safety equipment.
Regional Infrastructure: I have spent over a decade working alongside our neighboring cities to find real solutions for rapid growth and transportation pressures.
3. Diverse Community Involvement:
Beyond city hall, my qualifications are built on hard work and active service across our communities:
The Business Perspective: As entrepreneurs, my husband and I have run local small businesses. I understand the weight of managing payroll, HR, and budgets. I also worked for the University of Utah where I dealt with larger budgets and personnel issues. I founded the Bountiful Business Symposium and worked as a Liaison with our Main Street Association.
Regional Boards: I have a long, established working relationship with many key regional entities that drive our county forward, including the Davis Council of Governments, the South Davis Metro Fire Board, the South Davis Sewer District and the Wasatch Front Regional Council.
Political involvement: I have consistently served our local party as a member of the Republican State Central Committee, as a State GOP Caucus Ambassador and as a past President of the Davis County Republican Women.
Community: I founded TEDxBountiful and have served as a school and church volunteer.
Family: Wife and mother of 4 children (ages 19-25)
I offer a steady, respectful, and positive approach to governance—backed by a 12-year voting record of keeping taxes low and delivering tangible results. I am ready to get to work for Davis County on day one.
I would love to earn your vote on or before June 23rd. My phone is always on— feel free to call or text anytime. I'd love to talk with you about our vision for the county.
