Over 50% of Faribault residents are unable to make ends meet. I personally feel the stress of knowing that one major financial setback could impact my safety, housing, and access to healthcare. Everyone deserves the peace of mind that basic needs are met, and I intend to work toward that reality.

The primary vote is less than one month away! Make your plan to vote on August 11th.

Yesterday was a fantastic opportunity for our community to engage in meaningful discussion about data centers. Rice County Commissioner candidate, Sam Temple, provided a well-researched, thoughtful synopsis of what data centers are and how local government can protect our community from their harmful side effects.

Thank you to all of the community members and fellow City Council candidates who joined us! If you haven't already, make a plan to vote on August 11th for the primary election.

There is a growing concern among the Faribault community about the harmful side effects of Data Centers. I am interested in protecting citizens from dangerous chemicals, increased water/electricity bills, and negative environmental impacts by preventing Data Centers from being built.

Mark your calendars to vote on August 11!

What is my motivation to run for Faribault City Council?

As Faribault experienced financial insecurity this winter, I became involved with grassroots efforts to help meet basic needs. Witnessing the growing needs was overwhelming, and as an individual with limited financial resources and time I truly learned how teamwork on a unified and focused mission can provide help beyond anything I could do by myself.

When $50,000 from the State Affordable Housing Aid became available to help prevent an eviction crisis, I was hopeful and excited for the immediate support that would significantly reduce hardships for both individual families and Faribault’s economy as a whole.

I, along with many others, attended the City Council meeting to show our strong support of approving this funding. Instead of leaving full of hope, I left feeling crushed by the Council’s decision to not approve the funding. If our government leaders don’t support us in times of need, who will? What is more basic and essential than ensuring your citizens are able to stay housed, stay safe, stay alive?

This deep disappointment led me to run for City Council. I don’t have experience in politics, but I do have experience in living out my core beliefs that basic human rights are a necessity and must be protected. Through my work in healthcare I have witnessed seniors unable to afford treatment, parents struggling to take off work or find childcare to get their kids to the doctor, and inaccessibility for those requiring interpretation or accommodation. I am tired of being disappointed and disheartened by the lack of utilized resources, and am not comfortable sitting around waiting for someone else to step up. I want to see my values on the council, whether or not I am the one elected. I don’t think Faribault needs "me", I think Faribault deserves my values, which are shared by many. I will continue to work toward and advocate for affordable housing, access to healthcare, and ensuring basic needs are met, whether or not I do that as a City Councilor or as a compassionate citizen.

Mark your calendars to vote on August 11th!

Hello! As a Faribault native that has recently moved back to town, I am committed to helping make my hometown more affordable, healthier, and safer for everyone. The place that I grew up deserves to be represented by someone who both loves Faribault and knows what life is like for the average citizen living paycheck to paycheck. I am eager to serve my community through continued learning, building relationships, and being a voice for everyone.
