ALWG Encampment has come to a close. We challenged our members to grow and they rose to the challenge. At awards on Friday night, they were asked to continue to push themselves but to bring others along with them. Already looking forward to next year! ALWG Encampment Training Day 6 started with an all encampment run followed by a return to the leadership course to assess the growth of our teams. After lunch, inspections and the final encampment awards ceremony showed the cadets just how far they've come. We can't believe graduation is tomorrow! We'll see everyone for our graduation parade at 10:00 at Marion Military Institute!

ALWG Encampment Training Day 5 brought lower winds and allowed us to get some cadets in the air! After being unable to fly the previous day, it was great to be able to safely complete 64 orientation flights. Pilots and aircraft from across Southeast Region supported the effort. This round of cadets also completed tours and had a surprise visit from a Navy T-45. Back at Marion, squadrons completed the obstacle course and rappel tower. Only ONE full training day left!

ALWG Encampment Training Day 4 was BUSY as we split the students between locations with half going to the rappel tower and obstacle course and half at Craig Field for tours. Although winds kept us from flying, cadets got to explore the maintenance shop, the paint shop, the ATC Tower, and had visits and talks with pilots as well as a drop in from an Air Force MH-139. Looking forward to swapping and doing it again tomorrow!

ALWG Encampment Training Day 3 was packed with drill, leadership lessons, an overview of cadet flight opportunities, literal rocket science, a military aviation lesson, and a guest appearance in our encampment photo from Col Andrew Stewart, CAP-USAF Commander. We are ready for another great day tomorrow!

Training Day 2 was full of presentations about future educational opportunities as we had visits from the staff here at Marion Military Institute as well as AFROTC. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency brought in a helicopter and the troopers shared information on their careers and encouraged the cadets to make good choices. Afternoon classes included fitness, a cyber class on social engineering and artificial intelligence, and a presentation on National Cadet Special Activities. More to follow tomorrow!

A great day at ALWG Summer Encampment! Cadets were able to attend religious services and character development sessions in the morning followed by a presentation on the Core Values from former cadet and current Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Instructor, Don Degarmo. After lunch, cadets tackled the Leadership Reaction Course to kickstart team building within their flights. Blues inspections and dorm inspections were conducted today, and we closed with some games and closing formation and awards. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Students arrived today for ALWG Encampment! We had a successful afternoon moving into dorms, making bunks, meeting their teams, eating a great meal, and taking some time to reflect on their goals for encampment. Looking forward to the first full day tomorrow!

Encampment Check In starts in 12 short hours! We are excited to welcome the 100+ cadets who will get to spend the next week with us exploring leadership, aerospace, and making new friends. Our cadet cadre and senior staff members have been planning for months and have spent the last few days preparing for student arrival at Marion Military Institute. We can't wait for tomorrow!
