🌱 Our 5th graders at the 500 Building explored nature in a new pilot program at Clover Mill! Students were investigating streams, observing plants and animals, learning about erosion, and discovering how humans impact the environment—all through hands-on, outdoor activities .🌱
Students rotated through interactive stations, conducting scientific investigations, making observations, collecting data, and applying problem-solving skills—all designed to deepen their understanding of the local environment and how we interact with it.
This program is closely aligned with the Pennsylvania STEELS Standards and integrates cross-curricular connections to Math and English Language Arts, giving students authentic opportunities to strengthen collaboration, reading, writing, and data analysis skills in the great outdoors.
A huge thank you to our entire fifth-grade team, especially science teacher Michele Dawson, for making this possible. We’re also grateful to our administration, staff, and Operations Department for their invaluable support.

🌱 ¡Nuestros alumnos de 5º grado del edificio 500 exploraron la naturaleza en un nuevo programa piloto en Clover Mill! Los alumnos investigaron arroyos, observando plantas y animales, aprendieron sobre la erosión y descubrieron cómo los seres humanos afectan al medio ambiente, todo ello a través de actividades prácticas al aire libre.🌱
Los alumnos rotaron entre estaciones interactivas, realizando investigaciones científicas, haciendo observaciones, recopilando datos y aplicando habilidades de resolución de problemas, todo ello diseñado para profundizar en su comprensión del entorno local y de cómo interactuamos con él.
Este programa está estrechamente alineado con los Estándares STEELS de Pensilvania e integra conexiones interdisciplinares con matemáticas e inglés, lo que brinda a los alumnos oportunidades auténticas para fortalecer sus habilidades de colaboración, lectura, escritura y análisis de datos al aire libre.
