Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we recognize the dedication and service of our firefighters and those serving communities everywhere.

To our members: thank you for the pride you take in this job and the way you serve Evansville each day.

And to firefighters across the country and around the world, thank you for answering the call.

How cool is this?!

I got a text from my former co-anchor letting me know we were both finalists for the Society of Professional Journalists “2025 Best in Indiana Journalism Awards.” I had no idea my story was even nominated but when I saw it was storm coverage, I couldn’t help but smile.

Some of the most meaningful stories I’ve ever told and the relationships that have stayed with me came from covering people in the middle of the worst moments of their lives. Those stories never leave you.

Journalism & storytelling will always hold a special place in my heart, & I hope the good ones keep pushing forward and doing it the right way.
And congratulations to my bestie, Hannah Haerle News...you deserve all the flowers! 💐

This week, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we want to recognize and thank the men and women who answer the call when our community needs help most.

Public safety telecommunicators are the calm voice in the chaos and the critical link between those in need and emergency responders. They are truly the heartbeat of public safety.

We especially thank Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch telecommunicators for the work they do for our our community. Your service does not go unnoticed and we are grateful for everything you do. From all of us at the Evansville Fire Department, thank you for your service.
