Always SO fun!! Until next year 😎

Every good softball game needs a solid pair of MCs, and these two kept things moving all day. Great commentary, questionable play-by-play, and just enough trash talk to keep everyone entertained.

And we have to give some credit to our Evansville Fraternal Order of Police #73 MC for showing up with the killer tattoos and looking like he was equally prepared to call the game or start a biker gang after it.

Thanks to both of them for keeping the crowd laughing and making Slugfest even more fun.

Don’t make plans tomorrow night...Public Safety Slugfest is back! 🚨🥎

Evansville Professional Fire Fighters Local 357 and Evansville Fraternal Order of Police #73 are taking over Historic Bosse Field tomorrow, September 5, for the 2026 Code 3 Clash!

First pitch is at 7 PM, but there’s plenty happening beyond the game. Kids can take part in pitch & catch, meet players and get autographs, join in on some of the on-field fun and catch a special guest throwing out the first pitch. And of course, we’ll have plenty of fun and a little madness between innings.

Best of all, it’s for a great cause. Proceeds from the event will benefit Santa Clothes Club, Easterseals Rehabilitation Center of Evansville, Ark Crisis Children’s Center and Mattingly Charities.

Come out to Bosse Field, bring the family and help us pack the stands for a great night supporting some great organizations in our community.

We’ll see you tomorrow night! 🔥
(wearing RED, of course)

There’s just something about playing under the lights at Historic Bosse Field.

This Saturday, the uniforms will look a little different when local police officers and firefighters take the field for Public Safety Slugfest 2026.

Come enjoy a great night at one of Evansville’s most iconic places while helping us raise money for local nonprofit organizations.

This game is about a lot more than softball.

Public Safety Slugfest brings our community together for a fun night while supporting Santa Clothes Club, Easterseals Rehabilitation Center of Evansville, Ark Crisis Children’s Center, and Mattingly Charities.

Every sponsor and every person who comes out helps make the night bigger and better.

Join us September 5 at Historic Bosse Field as Police and Fire settle things the old-fashioned way — on the softball field.

We have a new training tool at EFD and it took a lot of teamwork to bring it to life!

A new water mapping prop is officially in service at the EFD Training Facility, giving our firefighters another hands-on way to sharpen their skills. The prop’s transparent walls, ceilings and roof allow firefighters to practice hoseline advancement and hose stream techniques while actually seeing how water moves through a structure and how effective different methods of water application can be.

The materials for the prop were purchased by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s Fire & Public Safety Academy, and EFD is now home to one of just three of these DHS props located across Indiana.

Getting it from delivery to ready-for-training was truly a community effort. Busler Enterprises and Tri-State Towing helped unload and position the prop at our facility. Indiana Cardinal donated plexiglass sheets for the project, while a CMRCC representative coordinated work sessions with Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters from the Central Midwest Carpenters Union. Personnel from Garmong Construction also volunteered their time. They worked alongside EFD Rescue 1 B-Shift firefighters, recruit firefighters and Training Division instructors to assemble the prop and get it ready for use.

And who better to break it in? Members of EFD Recruit Academy #69-26 recently became the first firefighters to train on the completed prop!

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this new training opportunity possible. Partnerships like these help us provide better training for our firefighters and ultimately better service to our community.
