Congratulations to these Lakeside High School Seniors on being named National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists.

Their PSAT/NMSQT score are among the top 1 percent of the nation’s highest scorers. These students now have an opportunity to advance to finalist standing and compete for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million that will be awarded next spring. More than 1.2 million high school juniors from about 20,000 high schools entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which serves as the initial screening for program entrants. Semifinalists represent the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

Great racing today at Starrs Mill! Girls varsity placed 2nd out of 29 teams. Ella Williams got 2nd, Abby Wong got 3rd, and Grace Williams, Kimberly Mullins, Angie Detwiler, Maddie Jackson, Maddie Wimer, and Marlee Birak making up the rest of the varsity team.

Girls JV placed 5th out of 14 with Katelyn Harris and Caroline Simon earning medals!

Boys Varsity placed 14th out of 31 teams with Luke Jeffares earning a medal.

Please join us in congratulating Callie Hain as Lakeside’s Scholar Athlete! Callie excels both academically and athletically, earning a 4.0 GPA and 98.97 average while completing six AP courses and currently being dual enrolled through Georgia Southern University. A four-year varsity flag football player, she has earned MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-Region honors. In lacrosse, she has been recognized as Rookie of the Year, two-time Offensive Player of the Year, and Region Player of the Year. Congratulations, Callie!

Mrs. Thompson’s forensics classes processed crimes scenes in the new learning commons. They will draw rough and final sketches of a crime scene as well as write a scenario of how the crime occurred based on the evidence present at the crime scene.
