It is, indeed, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! We will be sharing various tidbits, resources, and celebrations throughout the month--leading up to our DD Awareness Celebration on Tuesday, March 31st!

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. We recognize the contributions, talents, and experiences of people with developmental disabilities—and reaffirm the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and community support so everyone can thrive.

Developmental disabilities are diverse and not always visible, and awareness begins with recognizing the many different ways people live, learn, communicate, and participate in our community.

Locally, Lane County Developmental Disabilities serves more than 3,900 of our friends, family and neighbors—connecting clients and their personal service workers to resources and opportunities throughout the county.

Help shape the future of housing in Lane County 🏘️

Lane County is recruiting community members to serve on a new 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧-𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 that will help 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐚 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

The task force will develop the program’s goals, priorities, measures of success, and reporting standards. Once adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, the program will identify buildable land, move it through the land-use process, and make shovel-ready properties available to affordable housing developers. Offering ready-to-build properties that have cleared the land use process reduces the risk of delays for affordable housing developers – making building more attractive – and allows for a more efficient construction timeline. The program is funded with $2 million in Oregon Video Lottery funds.
