Judy Newman 4J School Board

Judy Newman 4J School Board Judy Newman has a passion for quality education, equality for all students and forty years of education experience! I can get things done in Salem.

I have 45 years of experience in education and have focused early learning and special education. I co-founded Early Childhood CARES, a program that has served thousands of young children with developmental delays and disabilities. I have decades of experience as a successful advocate at the Oregon State Legislature for expanding education funding, sound policies and equity. I am an experienced pr

oblem solver who has forged partnerships with health care services, social services, the business community, higher education and others to solve community problems. Schools can’t do it all alone. I have the track record to do this.

"I wholeheartedly endorse Judy Newman for the Eugene 4J School Board.

Sixteen years ago, my son received an autism diagnosis. Like many parents, I faced uncertainty about his future. Thankfully, we found a lifeline in Early Childhood CARES, an organization that was co-led at the time by Newman. This vital resource provides early intervention and special education services, offering invaluable support to families navigating the complexities of disabilities.

In addition to support and services, Newman and her team offered hope. They helped me see beyond my son’s diagnosis, recognizing his potential and fostering his development. Their guidance equipped me with essential parenting tools and empowered me to advocate for his needs. My son is now attending the Eugene School District 4J’s Community Transition Program, and he recently started his first paying job in the community! His remarkable progress is a testament to the early intervention and education he received at the Eugene School District 4J.

Newman is a powerful advocate for neurodiverse learners. She champions inclusive classrooms and is committed to closing the achievement gap for marginalized students. Her vision aligns with the needs of our diverse student population, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Newman’s experience, compassion and dedication make her an invaluable asset to the Eugene 4J School Board. I urge you to join me in casting your vote for Newman this May. We need her leadership, positivity and unwavering commitment to neurodiverse students."

"I have been a friend of Judy Newman’s for more than 50 years. During that time, I have observed many qualities that make her an excellent choice for reelection to the Eugene 4J School Board.

Judy is tireless. Friends assume she sleeps a few hours a night. Other than that, she is working, staying fit, spending time with family and having fun. When she chooses to do something, she is absolutely dedicated, as she has been to the school board.

Judy is influential. When she advocates for anything, it is always from a position of knowledge, thoughtful consideration and heartfelt belief. This has made her an extremely effective advocate, especially for young children at the state Legislature.

Judy is an extremely effective, award-winning leader. She has a long and proven track record of providing good guidance to the many community boards she has been on, not the least of which is the 4J board. She has decades of experience as the founder and co-director of Early Childhood CARES, a nonprofit, county-wide agency providing services to young children with special needs.

Finally, Judy is simply a very admirable person. She is kind and thoughtful, and looks for good in people. Her commitment to equity for all people has been in place her whole life, and is unquestionable.

It is hard for me to imagine a better person to advocate for and guide our children’s education. Please, vote to reelect Judy Newman to the 4J school board."

"Judy Newman is a steady, calm and experienced 4J board member. She has utilized her extensive knowledge of educational programs and brought strong, consistent leadership to the board. With so much potential change from the federal government ahead of us, now more than ever is a time when all these skills are needed.

We met Newman when we served as presidents of the Eugene Education Association, the local teachers’ union, and she was the director of the Early Childhood CARES Program at the University of Oregon. Newman showed both her dedication to providing top notch care for students but also providing that same care for the staff. She has shown that same type of dedication to being on the 4J board and will continue to do so if elected to the board for a third term.

This is clearly a time when continuity and true leadership is needed on the board. Please join us in voting for Newman for the 4J board.
