There’s nothing quite like getting out in the community, knocking on doors, and talking with neighbors about what matters to them.

Every conversation helps me bring the voices of Essex and Essex Junction back to Montpelier. Thank you to everyone who opened their door, shared a concern, offered an idea, or simply said hello.

We’ll be out knocking a lot more doors between now and Election Day. 💙

Wishing all of our students, teachers, school staff, and families a wonderful start to the new school year! I hope today is filled with excitement, new friendships, and a great beginning to the year ahead.

And a reminder to everyone on the roads: please slow down and stay alert. Students are walking, biking, waiting at bus stops, and crossing streets. Give school buses plenty of space and take a little extra time on your morning commute.

📚 The Calamity Club — A warm, witty read about friendship, reinvention, and the unexpected turns life takes. Funny and heartfelt, with characters you genuinely want to root for. Highly recommend the audio version.

📖 The Lion Women of Tehran — This one felt especially personal to me. Having been born in Iran and lived through the Revolution, the story’s portrayal of friendship, women’s lives, political upheaval, and a country transformed brought back memories and emotions that made this much more than just a novel for me. 🇮🇷

💛 My Friends — A moving, beautifully written novel about friendship, exile, memory, and the places we call home. Thoughtful and quietly devastating. Five ⭐️
