Thank you to Kathryn Ference, Director of Workforce Development at Maine Tourism Association for being a guest speaker in our BL&H year one class last week. She spoke to the students about all the occupations available to them in the Hospitality industry as well as all Maine has to offer. The students participated in an activity where they got to be a tourist for a day, staying overnight in a region of Maine. They researched lodging, activities & dining, then presented their trip to the class.

Today our year one BL&H students helped the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and Wallace Events set up for the Chamber's annual dinner. Such a great experience for these students. Tyler (Wallace Events) and Heather (Chamber) each spoke to the students about their work history, how their positions relate to the Hospitality industry and how important this event is for our local community.

Congratulations to Abby Billings-SMHS, Ashlynne Horn-SMHS, Emery Bench-MDIHS, Joey Bennett-MDI, and Aiden Brent-MDI for being recognized at HCTC's awards night. Ashlynne received the program's year 2 Top Performer Award as well as two scholarships, Abby received the program's Dedication Award, Emery Bench received the program's year one Top Performer Award and Joey and Aiden were each awarded scholarships. Congratulations to everyone!
