Another successful pressure canning class completed. Participants said they learned "Don't be afraid of the pressure canner," and "Mom always made it seem like it was complicated and dangerous, but it's not, " and "I didn't know you didn't have to add salt to vegetables."

Todd County Homemakers are sponsoring a Quilt Show on July 31, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Extension Office Meeting Room, during the Todd County Fair.

The show is open to any Todd County resident, and can be any category as long as it has been finished in the last year, with a limit of 3 quilts per person.

Entries will be taken at the Extension Office on Wednesday, July 29, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, July 30, 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

A Viewer’s Choice Award will be given at after the show at 6:15 p.m., checkout will begin immediately following until 7:30 p.m. Quilts may also be picked up at the Extension Office on August 3 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

We still have room in our Super Star Chef 1-day Cooking Camps planned this summer for youth ages 9-12, June 23 or July 24 , 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Youth will learn basic cooking skills, food safety, nutrition, and practice hands-on cooking skills. We still have room in our food preservation classes. Boiling Water Canning classes are scheduled for June 4 at 5:00 p.m. and June 5 at 9:00 a.m. Pressure Canning classes will be Friday, June 12 at 5:00 p.m. and Monday, June 15 at 9:00 a.m.. Classes will be instructional (research-based) and hands-on. There is a $5 fee for each class to cover supplies. Call the Todd County Extension Office at 270-265-5659 to register.
