Today, I was honored to join Mayor Johnson, Mayor Pro Tem Alejandra Chávez, Representatives Boyar, Fierro and Niño, El Paso County, and thousands of community members for the 25th Memorial 9/11 Stair Climb.

We climbed alongside firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, first responders, members of our military, and many others who came together in remembrance.

With every step, we honored the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who continue to carry their memory, and the courage and sacrifice of those who answered the call to serve.

We climbed for them. We remember them. We will never forget.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the lives lost, the families who continue to carry their memory, and honor our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, first responders, members of our military, and all who answered the call to serve.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their courage, service, and sacrifice.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Collaboration makes our community stronger.

The Office of District 3 and Mayor Renard U. Johnson were proud to present a proclamation recognizing September 10–19, 2026, as Welcoming Week in partnership with El Paso County and the Office of New Americans.

Welcoming Week celebrates the cultures, traditions, and people who make El Paso special while encouraging connection, belonging, and a welcoming community for all.

We are grateful for the collaboration between our City, County, and community partners as we continue working together to celebrate and strengthen the community we are proud to call home.

988 Day serves as an important reminder that mental health support should be accessible to everyone in our community. The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline provides a vital connection to trained professionals who are available to listen, provide support, and connect individuals with resources during times of crisis. We encourage our community to know the number, share the resource, and remember that help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Help us congratulate Estefania on successfully completing the Ability Fellows Program!

Throughout the summer, Estefania had the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with the City of El Paso, working with Strategic and Legislative Affairs and spending part of her fellowship with our District 3 Office. From learning about the day-to-day operations of local government to assisting with different projects and responsibilities, we were happy to be part of her journey and watch her grow throughout the program.

The Ability Fellows Program provides individuals with disabilities an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, develop professional skills, build confidence, and explore career opportunities within local government.

We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Marathon Petroleum, sponsor of the Ability Fellows Program. Their continued support and partnership help make opportunities like this possible and allow us to continue creating programs that provide valuable experiences and opportunities for members of our community.

We are incredibly proud of Estefania and everything she accomplished this summer. Congratulations on completing the program, Estefania! We wish you continued success in everything that comes next.

And the journey continues—we are excited to soon welcome our second cohort of Ability Fellows and continue providing opportunities for participants to learn, grow, and gain real-world experience!

Help keep El Paso beautiful! 🌱

The Adopt-A-Street Program is a great way for residents, organizations, and community groups to give back by helping keep our streets clean.

Choose a one-mile street segment, commit to at least four cleanups a year, and make a visible difference in our community.

Together, we can help beautify our city, one street at a time! 💚

Be among the first to adopt a street in El Paso. The City’s Adopt-A-Street pilot program is ready for the public to sign up, select a street, and plan a cleanup to boost community pride and beautify El Paso.

This anti-litter effort allows organizations, individuals and businesses to make a lasting impact on El Paso’s quality of life.

How it works:
🛣️ Adopt 1 mile of a major or collector roadway
🗑️ Clean up at least 4 times a year for 2 years
🪧 Get recognized with two City-installed signs at the roadway entry points

There is no fee to adopt a street. Learn more at: ElPasoTexas.Gov/Adopt-A-Street or email us at [email protected]
