April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. As you drive past the El Dorado Police Department, you will see our pinwheel garden. Each pinwheel represents a child victim for the past year. The El Dorado Police Department, in conjunction with the Children's Advocacy Center of South Arkansas, has worked 104 cases involving child victims. Help us spread awareness and protect those who can't protect themselves.

Every year, dozens of people are killed when they choose to drive drunk during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. According to NHTSA, 38% (284) of the traffic fatalities that occurred during the St. Patrick’s Day holidays between 2019-2023 involved drunk drivers. In 2023 alone, there were 63 fatalities in drunk-driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, of which 44 involved drivers with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or higher.

We have received a call from a good samaritan who advised they saw, spoke with, and gave a ride to Thomas on March 1st. They dropped Thomas off near Chase Farms in Farmerville, LA. Thomas was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, had no phone or wallet, and appeared to be suffering a mental crisis. Thomas stated he wanted to go to Ruston, LA or Florida. Thomas' words and thoughts were not cohesive. Thomas was last seen walking towards Farmerville, LA.
