Today, we had the honor of sharing the mission of The Heart Theatre with the incredible members of 100+ Women Who Care of Effingham County. It was a privilege to tell the story of our historic theatre, our vision for its restoration, and what this project means to our community.

We are beyond grateful to announce that we were awarded a $10,000 gift from this amazing group of philanthropic women! Their commitment to making a positive impact throughout Effingham County is truly inspiring, and we are honored that they chose to support our mission.

A very special shoutout to Robin Westendorf for inviting us and connecting us with this wonderful group of women. Your support and encouragement mean so much to our organization.

Today, we pause to remember D-Day and honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Greatest Generation.

On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, landing on the beaches of Normandy and beginning the liberation of Western Europe. The cost was immense, but so was the courage.

As we reflect on this pivotal moment 82 years ago, we also remember and honor the men and women from Effingham and the surrounding communities who answered the call to serve during World War II—and all veterans who have defended the freedoms we enjoy today.

At The Heart Theatre, we believe preserving history means preserving the stories of the people who shaped our communities. Today, we remember those who served, those who sacrificed, and those who never came home.

May we never forget their legacy.

As we work to preserve a historic gathering place in downtown Effingham, we are reminded that the buildings we save matter because of the people and stories they help us remember.
