Mike dedicated 35 years to volunteer fire departments between Auburn and Edinburg. He started on Edinburg Fire in 2003 holding the positions of Captain from 2019 till 2023 then promoted to Asst Chief in 2023, a position he held until his retirement. He loved training new members and helping train members on other departments in the area. Dora, Bob and families, you have been and still are in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Mike, we miss and love you. Look down on us and keep us safe. We will take it from here.

PRESS RELEASE

On October 7th, 2025 at approximately 2:18AM Christian County 911 received a call about a one vehicle crash. The single vehicle crash resulted in the death of three juveniles. The crash was located on 1400 East Rd. near 1100 North Rd. and is still under investigation.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Taylorville Police Department, Illinois State Police, Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction, Taylorville Fire Department along with the Christian County Coroners Office responded to the call.

Sunday October 5th we will be hosting our fall pork chop fundraiser and open house. October 5th starts National Fire Prevention Week across the country. We have different events planned throughout the day. Red Cross will be there to discuss their smoke detector program which you will be able to talk to them anytime from 11:00 to 3:00. Illinois State Fire Marshal arson investigation canine demo at 1:00 p.m. and we will have saints Flight helicopter in at 2:00 p.m. and will be able to discuss any questions pertaining to helicopter transport and any misconceptions that the public may have about emergency helicopter transportation. I'm sure we will have the trucks out for all the kiddos to look through and maybe even have a fire hose out for them to spray. Hope to see you all there please spread the word and as always any of the all support will be greatly appreciated.

Also we will deliver within reason to the fields for our farmers
