I wanted to share updates on the funding loss due to the Town of East Bridgewater’s non compliance with the MBTA Zoning Law. As an elected official within the town, I have a fiduciary responsibility to our residents that I do not take lightly. While yes I am opposed to the MBTA legislation that does not mean it comes without the full understanding of what this vote means.

When the town notes that there is serious concerns due to non compliance this is not to be taken lightly. Recourse from the state has already begun and this has been proven through updates presented at select board meetings as well as can be seen with the list attached.

While I do not agree with the weaponization of grant funding and the lawsuit - the Governor has the right to be able to use her discretionary ability the law provides to take these measures against our town aswell as the attorney general has the legal right to sue our town for non compliance.

I implore residents to attend upcoming listening sessions and meetings ask questions, outline concerns and confusion and have respectful conversations with one another. Really understand what a “No” vote means and what a “Yes” vote means.

This legislation is brought to town meeting for residents to decide what they want for the future framework of this town so whatever you vote may be I just want to highlight the importance of your engagement in this decision.

I want to condemn any demonizing of one opinion over another. It’s alright to disagree, it is the beauty of democracy. I know we are a community of neighbors who genuinely care for one another- if you disagree let’s hold ourselves to a better standard and do so respectfully.

Below you will find the running tally of grant funding the town has lost. This does not include the legal fees the town will incur. As this list expands and more information is given I will ensure to keep folks apprised.

I am wishing every a very happy and healthy Patriots day and as always please never hesitate to reach out with questions and concerns!

The Town of East Bridgewater will hold a public forum on Wednesday, April 22 at 7pm in the 1st floor conference on two zoning articles concerning the North Bedford Street Housing Overlay District that are on the warrant at the Annual Town Meeting on May 11. These articles, if approved, will bring the Town into compliance with the MBTA Communities Zoning statute.

The forum will include a brief presentation about the two articles and the challenges the Town faces if it remains in non-compliance with the State laws and a question and answer period.

Copies of the articles can be found at https://www.eastbridgewaterma.gov/2223/Zoning-By-Law-Proposals---2026

Everyone is invited to attend.

Tonight’s select board agenda- I want to highlight action item 11. This is the start of the process for the MBTA communities to be put back on the town warrant for the annual town meeting. This procedural step was approved by the board. For those who have asked for my opinion on this. I am opposed to the MBTA communities act and stand with residents who have voted twice against the act. For those who are wondering why the town is gearing up to put this back on the town warrant it is because the governor has taken legal action against the town and there is significant funding loss because of non compliance. I understand this perspective from leaders within the town but do not believe we should be bullied by beacon hill into compliance. As always please never hesitate to reach out with questions via email at [email protected] thank you.

When the snow just kept coming and the winds felt like they might shake the house, you could really feel how powerful this storm was.

We saw an unprecedented amount of snowfall and wind gusts that made conditions especially challenging. Roads drifted over quickly, visibility dropped to whiteout conditions, and it truly felt like one of those storms we’ll be talking about for years.

I want to take a moment to say yeah snow sucks, no denying that- but there is something beautiful stood out to me.

Neighbors shoveling out neighbors. Strangers stopping to help push cars out of snowbanks. Snowdays with kids learning about what it means to be a true New Englander- shoveling until your cheeks are rosey and toes are numb-sometimes in shorts and a that with an iced coffee in hand! People checking in on one another just to make sure everyone was safe and warm.

What a community we have and I am so blessed to live in this town. I want to sincerely thank our DPW team and all of the contracted workers who worked long hours — through heavy snow and strong winds — to clear our roads as safely and quickly as possible and they are still going. Your dedication means more than words can express.

I’m also incredibly grateful to our Police Chief, Fire Chief, and all of our public safety personnel for their protection and care throughout the storm.

Events like this remind me why I feel so lucky to live here. Even during the most challenging weather, the heart of our small town shines through. We truly take care of each other — and I am so grateful to be part of this community.
