Limerick Siren Test
Constellation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency sirens surrounding the Limerick Clean Energy Center today, 6/1, at approximately 2 p.m. and again on Tuesday, 6/2, at various intervals throughout the day. The full-volume test are performed in June and December.

The warning siren system consists of sirens located in the 10-mile radius around the center. The sirens are not a signal to evacuate. Instead they are intended to warn area residents to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station for news or instructions.

Limerick Clean Energy Center (LCEC), located in Limerick Township, is a two-unit nuclear generation facility capable of producing enough electricity for more than 1.7 million homes. LCEC was previously known as Limerick Generating Station. The plant's two 507 foot tall natural-draft hyperbolic cooli...

Lower Providence’s Draft Zoning Ordinance Ready for Public Review and Comment
About five years ago, the Township asked residents and property owners to share their vision of the future of Lower Providence. The considerable insight gained through this process was gathered into a Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in July 2023. Since then, the Board of Supervisors and staff have worked to realize that vision, with zoning being one of the most effective ways to achieve it.

After three years, we are proud to present this draft ordinance for public review. This document was drafted based on the vision laid out in the Comprehensive Plan, lessons learned from the history of appeals before the Zoning Hearing Board, best practices in planning and zoning, and our direct experience living and working in this community.

We are early in a process that emphasizes public engagement. In the next five months this draft will go before various boards and commissions, with possible adoption this fall. It is currently being shared with the Township and County Planning Commissions, the Board of Supervisors, and you.

Please take the time to review and discuss with others. We encourage you to reach out to us in the Community Development Department or share your feedback at a public meeting. The next public meeting will be with the Township Planning Commission on Wednesday June 24, at 7:00 PM.
