Yesterday, the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit had a great time participating in National Night Out at the Patsy Winn Sports Complex.

It was a great evening getting out of the office, meeting members of our community, visiting with families, and most importantly, seeing the kids having a great time with the games and activities. 🏀🎯🎮

Events like National Night Out remind us that law enforcement is about more than just enforcement. Building relationships, educating our community, and working together to keep our families safe is just as important.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and spent some time with us, and thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success. We enjoyed meeting you and look forward to seeing everyone again!

🚔 3-DAY MULTI-AGENCY AUTO CRIMES OPERATION 🚔

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit recently conducted a three-day multi-agency operation focused on identifying stolen vehicles, trailers, equipment, and other property, while also providing education and enforcement related to auto theft and catalytic-converter crimes.

The operation included:

• Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit
• Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV)
• Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID)
• Eagle Pass Police Department Auto Theft Unit
• Zavala County Auto Crimes Unit

During the operation, multiple businesses across Maverick, Zavala, and Val Verde Counties were inspected. Investigators also examined numerous vehicles, RVs, trailers, ATVs, boats, and other equipment.

A portion of the operation focused on catalytic-converter theft and the requirements surrounding the purchase, sale, transfer, and recordkeeping of catalytic converters. Investigators provided businesses with information regarding Texas law and the importance of maintaining proper documentation and records.

The operation resulted in the successful recovery of two U-Haul car dollies that were confirmed stolen, one reported stolen out of San Antonio and the other out of Houston, Texas.

This operation demonstrates the importance of multi-agency cooperation, proactive enforcement, business education, and information sharing in the fight against vehicle theft and related crimes.

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit will continue working with our local, state, and federal partners throughout the region to identify stolen property, educate our communities, prevent auto theft, and hold offenders accountable.

🚨 MULTI-AGENCY AUTO THEFT OPERATION 🚨

Another successful day of teamwork and collaboration!

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit, working alongside Texas DMV, Eagle Pass Auto Theft Task Force, and Zavala County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit, conducted a multi-agency inspection operation in our community.

During the operation, two stolen U-Haul tow dollies were recovered. One was reported stolen out of San Antonio, and the other was reported stolen out of Houston.

This recovery is another example of how agency cooperation, inspections, technology, and attention to detail can help identify stolen property and return it to its rightful owner.

We will continue working together with our local, state, and regional partners to combat vehicle and equipment theft.

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office Auto Crimes Unit recently had the opportunity to visit the CC Winn High School Criminal Justice Class with Mr. Silva.

We spoke with students about the evolving technology in law enforcement and auto theft investigations, including how new technology is helping law enforcement prevent, detect, and investigate vehicle-related crimes.

We also discussed the importance of a simple but powerful message:
