The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Northeastern Sedgwick County in south central Kansas...
Eastern Harvey County in south central Kansas...
Northwestern Butler County in south central Kansas...
South central Marion County in central Kansas...

* Until 715 PM CDT.

* At 612 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Bentley, or 6
miles north of Colwich, moving northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
Newton, Park City, Valley Center, North Newton, Sedgwick, Peabody,
Whitewater, Bentley, Walton, Elbing, and Newton Airport.

This includes Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 16 and 34.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

..FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING FOR EXTREME GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER FOR AREAS ALONG
AND WEST OF THE FLINT HILLS...

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Fire Weather
Watch for extreme grassland fire danger, which is in effect from
Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

* Extreme Grassland Fire Danger...

* Winds...Southwest 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 25 percent.

* Impacts...Any ignitions will have the potential to become
wildfires quickly, and spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is
strongly discouraged.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this fire weather product.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO NOON CST
SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and
9 inches expected with locally higher amounts possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas.

* WHEN...From noon Friday to noon CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Bitterly cold
temperatures with wind chill values below zero are also expected
Friday through Sunday which only increases the vulnerability when
traveling. Travel should be avoided if possible, especially Friday
night through midday Sunday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
