The Durham Police Department’s basketball team has two four-player teams entered in the Battle in Bay 7 3-on-3 basketball tournament this week. The games will be played at Bay 7 in the American To***co Complex in downtown Durham.
Members of DPD’s Team A are Investigator Corry Cook, Cpl. Delondon Gaither, Officer McLloyd Bynum and Officer Jordan Burrus and members of DPD’s Team B are Officer Paul Clark, Officer Edwin Ortiz, Lt. John Shelton and Officer Christopher Shepperd.
Team A plays at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 and Team B plays at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28. The winning teams play again on Thursday and the championship games will be played on Friday. There are 30 teams participating in the tournament.
The first place team will win $2,500 for a public school of their choice and $1,500 will go to the second place team's school. The prize money will directly benefit the winning schools' athletic departments. The DPD basketball teams have chosen Southern High School and Shepard Middle School as their schools of choice.
The event is free and open to the public. Come out and cheer for the DPD basketball teams.
