Let’s talk about one of Rotary’s Causes: Fighting Disease

400 million people in the world can’t afford or do not have access to basic health care. Disease results in pain and poverty for millions worldwide. That’s why treating and preventing disease is so important to Rotary.

In Nigeria, it’s extremely difficult to receive healthcare due to the lack of professionals in the area and the difficulty of traveling to local facilities. Our members in Sebastopol, CA, USA, and Dr. James K. Gudestepped in as part of a larger effort to supply remote areas with telemedicine, healthcare, and solutions from a distance. Telemedicine brings doctors and patients together virtually to ensure that anybody who needs medical help will receive it.

Another core Rotary focus as part of disease fighting is providing clean water to communities without the proper resources.

Want to get involved? Here are some ways you can help fight disease:
◻️Spread awareness about the cause by sharing this post
◻️Practice healthy habits in your own life, like washing your hands
◻️Donate to The Rotary Foundation
◻️Become a member of your local Rotary club

Rotary has been an official partner of the Peace Corps since 2014. Join us in wishing our amazing partner a very happy 60th anniversary!

Since its creation in 1961, the Peace Corps has always kept the same goals in mind: providing training for men and women in interested host countries; helping people in those countries to better understand Americans; and helping Americans to better understand other people.
