In 1917, Melvin Jones, a 38-year-old Chicago business leader, asked a simple and world-changing question – what if people put their talents to work improving their communities? In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." We have formed the DuPont Washington Lions Club to carry out both challenges.

DUPONT LIONS DONATION TO BENEFIT THE DUPONT HISTORICAL MUSEUM
The DuPont Lions Club has officially merged with the Lacey Sunrise Lions. As part of the process of closing out the DuPont Lions accounts, the club presented the remaining balance of $1400 to the DuPont Historical Society to “Protect and Promote DuPont’s History for Present and Future Generations.”

The Lions Club is an international service organization whose motto is “We Serve.” The Club supports vision and hearing programs, scholarships, youth activities and other local community projects and needs. The Dupont club’s merger with Lacey Sunrise will help strengthen both clubs and support its outreach in both communities.

Our monthly LIONS CLUB MEETING is this Wednesday, Oct. 9th at 6 o’clock at the Eagle’s Pride Golf Course Restaurant, Mounts Rd, DuPont. We will socialize and order off Frank’s delicious Tin Hut BBQ menu, then have a brief business meeting. An important item of business is to confirm the number of Lions who can assist with the school district’s annual vision and hearing screenings scheduled Nov. 4th through the 8th. Bill will have the schedule on Wednesday or will email it to you if you’re unable to attend. See you there!
*Strengthen the Pride and strengthen the community.

DuPont Lions Club officers Lee McDonald and Patty Moore toured the Lions Low Vision Resource Center in Olympia, WA. The LVRC is dedicated to advancing the independence of all persons experiencing low vision and is supported by the Olympia Host Lions Club, the Lions club International Foundation and individual donations. Visitors can explore the many items that make life with limited vision a bit easier. They’ll also learn about new tech options with one-on-one group training and what local resources are available to them. Many participants enjoy the peer support and activities with those who have experienced vision loss too. The services are free and the gadgets and items are free or on loan.
CALL 360-790-8667 the center is open Wednesdays and Saturdays. Call for more info or to make an appointment
Special thanks to Director Michael Petty, and Volunteers Marjorie Steed and Aryanna Willoughby and others for the tour and their support of this great Lions program.
