Today we’re thinking of firefighters across the country who show up no matter the time, weather, or situation.

Here in Dixmont, we see that same dedication in our own crew. It’s missed time with family, long nights, and always being ready when someone needs help.

We’re proud of our members and grateful for every firefighter out there doing the same.

Stay safe and thank you for all you do ❤️

It was an honor to welcome a visit to the Dixmont Fire Station today. Time spent with our firefighters is a powerful reminder of what true community service looks like.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that helped secure $2.3 million toward replacing our aging station, along with continued efforts to strengthen fire services across Maine.

Our first responders are always there when the community needs them. Support like this ensures we can continue to show up, protect, and serve Dixmont for years to come.

Thank you for standing behind your local fire department.

It’s official… the final piece of the puzzle for the new Dixmont fire station is in place. And no, this is NOT an April Fools joke.

On March 21st, the town voted and approved the final costs for the portion we are responsible for alongside the Susan Collins grant.

This project has been a true community effort from start to finish. We are incredibly grateful to our community, surrounding departments, and the many individuals who dedicated their time and energy to help make this happen.

A special thank you to the department members who showed up and represented at the town meeting while the Chief was away on a family vacation. Your commitment does not go unnoticed.

As we move forward, the next steps include working closely with an engineer to begin turning this plan into reality.

Shown below is the land this evening, waiting as this long-awaited vision begins to take shape.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Marion O. Dunivan of Dixmont on March 16, 2026.

As a longtime member of the Dixmont Fire Department family and its auxiliary, Marion truly embodied what it means to serve your community. For many, many years, she stood beside us through countless calls, events, fundraisers, and moments that brought this department together. Her dedication, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting mark on all of us who had the privilege to know her.

Marion wasn’t just part of the department, she was part of the heart of it. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the traditions she helped build and the people she impacted along the way.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 27th from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Dixmont Gold Crest Riders Snowmobile Club on Cates Road in Dixmont.

An obituary will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dixmont Fire and Rescue in Marion’s memory.

Rest easy, Marion “Nana”. Thank you for your years of dedication, friendship, and service. We will take it from here. ❤️

Here is your friendly reminder!! ⏰

🚨 Dispatch Reminder 🚨

Before you call it a night on Saturday, remember to set your clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time. ⏰➡️

Losing an hour of sleep isn’t our favorite either, but the longer, brighter evenings are on the way. 🌅

While you’re updating the time, take a moment to test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they’re working properly.

No matter the time of day (or night), 911 dispatchers are always here—24/7, 365 days a year—ready to answer when you need help.

We are excited to share that the Town of Dixmont has been awarded a $2.3 million CDS grant toward a new fire station.

Thank you, Senator Collins, for investing in Dixmont’s future.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Raven Hopkins, Carol Sowa, Serena Bemis, Susie Hopkins, Chief Hopkins, and our firefighters for the time, dedication, and teamwork that made this possible.

We’re incredibly grateful and excited for what’s ahead for our community. 🤍
