Every mural starts here: hours of detail work, color built up layer by layer, a scene taking shape long before installation day. This one’s headed for the City of Detroit’s Huber site, and when it’s ready, it goes up.

Eastside got a love letter and it’s signed in paint.

Artist Mila Lynn just dropped mural #4 in her “Eastside Love Letter” series ,a cat dab, a hand-lettered note, and a message the whole block needed to hear: “I’m glad you’re here”.

This isn’t decoration. It’s a greeting card the size of a building.

Congratulations to Habacuc Samuel Bessiake👨🏿‍🎨 for winning the mural contest!

Big shoutout to all of the artists who put their creativity on the wall and gave the youth something meaningful to experience, including Dee , Ashlee Royster , and Jasmine A.Smith

This was bigger than a competition. It was about young people being surrounded by art, creativity, mentorship, and people who believe in what they can become.

Step beyond the walls and showcase your original fine artwork in a special October exhibition at The Fel’le Art Studios.

Submit 2–3 original pieces for consideration.

Submission Details:

We met with SEMCOG at their office on July 21st with planners and reps from Birmingham, Farmington, Brighton, West Bloomfield, and across the region — then walked them onto the People Mover.

Led by our Program Director, Bethany J. Howard, “City Walls: Transforming Detroit Through Public Art” moved from presentation to pavement fast. Rosa Parks mural watching over downtown.

Every wall reverse engineered with the people who live around it: residents, block clubs, neighborhood stakeholders, so the art reflects the block, not somebody’s idea of it.

Detroit isn’t a blank canvas. It’s alive. It already has a story. The region just got to see it up close.
