126 years ago today, after a decades-long suffrage movement, the 19th Amendment was adopted to codify women's right to vote. Today and every day, we recognize the dedication of the women who came before us, as well as the continued fight for gender equality in the U.S.

Whether swimmers are diving into Lake Michigan, farmers are cultivating their crops, or any Illinoisan is using a drinking fountain, water that’s free of toxins and contaminants is essential for life in our state.
I've passed a range of laws to advance this cause, including the Safe Drinking Water Act, which enhances enforcement tools for maintaining water purity standards, because no one should ever face the frustrations, obstacles, or even dangers of contaminated water.
